CASPER, Wyo. — A Wyoming man is dead after colliding with a fire hydrant and light post at an intersection in Worland on Monday evening.

According to a Wyoming Highway Patrol incident report, Joel Arellano, 53, was stopped in a Chevy Colorado in the westbound lane at the 800 block of Big Horn Avenue (US 16) in Worland.

According to the report, the vehicle stayed still momentarily as the light turned green before rapidly accelerating. The vehicle then collided with a fire hydrant and light post before coming to an uncontrolled stop.

The report says a possible medical condition is being investigated as a contributing factor. A seatbelt was in use, according to the report.
