CASPER, Wyo. — A single-vehicle collision at the Interstate 25 bridge over the Highway 20 and 26 bypass on Friday night sent a truck over the side of the bridge and resulted in one person being transported to receive medical attention.

According to a report from the Natrona County Fire District, a semi truck and trailer was traveling southbound on I-25 when it struck the guardrail along the side of the bridge. The force of the impact rotated the vehicle to its passenger side in the air, and the truck continued off the bridge and landed on the bypass below.

A Casper Fire-EMS engine was in the process of clearing a separate incident in the area and emergency personnel on that call saw the truck go off the bridge. The first responders quickly made their way to the scene and called for additional units. Multiple other reporting parties also called 911.

Units from the Natrona County Fire District, Casper Fire-EMS Department, Mills Fire Department, Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, Casper Police Department, Wyoming Highway Patrol, Wyoming Department of Transportation and Banner Health-Wyoming Medical Center responded.

The driver of the truck was able to extricate himself from the wreck and was immediately transported to Wyoming Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment. According to the fire district, the driver’s last known condition was stable.

Troopers with the Wyoming Highway Patrol are investigating the crash, and the cause is currently undetermined.
