CASPER, Wyo. — Casper businessman Bob Ide is running for a seat in the Wyoming Senate and has secured an endorsement from former U.S. Rep. Ron Paul, Ide’s campaign announced in a press release.

Ide is running in Senate District 29, a seat currently held by Sen. Drew Perkins, and will appear as a Republican on the Aug. 16 primary election ballot.

“I will better serve the people of SD29 and Wyoming by taking a strong stand defending and protecting the founding principles that made this country the envy of the world…Life, Liberty and Property,” Ide said in the press release.

Paul praised Ide for his success as a businessman, for being active in the community and for political views standing for limited government in comments included in the press release.

“You have not only been a successful businessman and entrepreneur, and very active in your community, but I know you stand for limited government, the Constitution and Liberty,” Paul, a former presidential candidate, said. “I am confident as an elected legislator, you will be effective in representing your constituents, looking out for all of Wyoming and doing all you can to uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of Wyoming.”

Ide’s priorities if elected as a Wyoming senator are to defend life, liberty and property and reduce the size of government, according to his campaign. Ide’s campaign has launched a website where voters can find more information about his candidacy.
