Former Wyoming men’s basketball guard Drake Jeffries often made Arena-Auditorium come alive thanks to his many 3-pointers over his two-year career in Laramie.

Now, the Illinois native will get to prove his sharpshooting on a national stage.

Jeffries will participate in the 3-point contest of the State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at 7 p.m. Thursday on the campus of Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans — an event that’ll be televised live on ESPN — per a UW news release Monday. A full reveal of the competition’s remaining participants will come later this week.

Despite playing just 59 games for the Cowboys, Jeffries ranks 11th in school history with 146 3-pointers to his name with the Pokes and 94 triples this past season alone. His 39.4% clip from deep for his career ranks fourth in UW history.

Jeffries, a senior this season who had an extra year of eligibility to his name due to COVID-19, opted shortly after Wyoming’s season ended in the NCAA Tournament to not return to Laramie for an additional year, per his social media. The former JUCO transfer retweeted that he had signed with an agency in his bid to turn professional, effectively ending his college career.
