Oil City News LLC is a nonpartisan media organization and Central Wyoming’s largest locally owned, independent news platform. We specialize in hyperlocal coverage of the people, places and events that shape the community we love. The mission of Oil City’s award-winning staff of Casper-based, professional journalists is bringing readers accurate stories first and forever free

We strive to provide our readers with impartial, informative reporting, and an outlet for civic engagement and discourse on matters of community concern. Our website, OilCity.news, generates about two million pageviews per month, placing it squarely among the largest websites in the state of Wyoming. Our audience is primarily located within 50 miles of Casper, Wyoming, and we appreciate that they have described our platform as the most “preferred,” “timely,” “accurate,” “trustworthy,” “easy-to-use,” “cool,” and “relevant” news platform in the area.

Oil City News is committed to following the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics. “Ethical journalism strives to ensure the free exchange of information that is accurate, fair and thorough,” the SPJ states. Our journalists take responsibility for the accuracy of their work, verify information before releasing it, and use clearly identified and original sources. They take care not to misrepresent facts, and they seek subjects of news coverage to allow them to respond. Our reporting on all platforms will be truthful and transparent.

ACCURACY: Although our journalists work hard to ensure the accuracy of their reporting, mistakes can and do happen. When a mistake is made, we will work quickly to address it. A correction detailing the error will be placed in the story and it will be added to a running list of corrections. If you find an error, click the “Report a Correction or Typo” button at the bottom of the story.
