Officials say that controlled burns are happening in an area where smoke might be visible to motorists and Casper residents.
The Bureau of Land Management High Plains District began conducting large burns in the Bates Hole area on Tuesday March 5.
The burning is expected to continue until Thursday March 7.

A Casper Mountain Fire Protection District statement says that smoke columns may be visible from Highway 487 and has the potential to be seen from Casper and surrounding areas.
