CASPER, Wyo. — Casper citizen Nicholas Wales approached the Casper City Council with a proposal during their Tuesday, May 7 Council meeting.

He said that he would like the Council to consider transforming the former Plains Furniture building into an indoor park and skate park.

The City has been accepting bids to redevelop and purchase the former Plains building and adjacent properties.

Wales pointed to a skate park idea that has been brought up at Youth Empowerment Council meetings.

He said he’d also like to see the space made into an indoor park that could be used by children with disabilities.

“Some of these [outdoor] parks don’t have enough to do something for these parents and these kids,” Wales said.

Wales said that since the City has so far been unable to sell the Plains Furniture properties at their appraised value, he thought they should consider his proposal.

“I know it would take a lot to do something more indoors,” he said. “It would be great to see something like this. I’d love to be the first to throw some dollars into it.”
