Youth select logo for Casper skate park campaign

The YEC’s new skate park campaign logo features blue mountains atop a skateboard.

CASPER, Wyo. — Members of the Youth Empowerment Council voted unanimously for one of two logos for their campaign to bring an indoor skate park to Casper.

The logo was designed by YEC member Kynlee Jolley who said fellow member Jordan Burt gave her the idea.

“Jordan came up with the one we all like,” Jolley said. “It’s because of the blue.”

YEC Coordinator Brittlyn Bulgrin told members during their Thursday, May 16 meeting that word of their campaign is spreading well.

She said that skate park supporters in Laramie, Gillette, Jackson and Fort Collins have already reached out to voice their enthusiasm and offer assistance to bring an indoor skate park to Casper.

Bulgrin added that the American Ramp Company has also reached out to the YEC, saying that they can help maximize their resources once they have a plan in place.

“The biggest thing for us right now would be to find a location and establish a budget,” Bulgrin said.

American Ramp Company has helped get skate parks built nationwide, Bulgrin added.

“They want to help us,” she said.

The YEC also discussed plans for a “Go Skateboarding Day,” which they say will be held from 6-10 p.m. Friday, June 21.

The event will feature a “Game of Skate” competition. Bulgrin said their will be beginner, intermediate and advanced skate competitions.

There will be a $3 entry fee to participate in the competition and proceeds will go toward the YEC’s skate park campaign.

Genna Pickett with LMTD Skateboards is organizing the competition aspect of the event and will find three judges to evaluate the skaters.

But Bulgrin said the event is not only for skate boarders. She said family and youth are welcome to join and yard games like cornhole, tic-tac-toe and giant jenga will be offered.

There will be a 50/50 raffle and a Heads/Tails raffle to help raise more funding. A BBQ will be held and the YEC will be accepting donations.

“Go Skateparking Day” yard games and BBQ will take place at Wells PArk Pavilion, located between the soccer and softball fields at the North Casper Soccer Complex, located at 1700 East K Street.

The skate competition will be held across the street at the Boys and Girls Club Skate Park. located at 1701 East K Street.
