CASPER, Wyo. — A fraud examiner expert with the Casper Police Department will teach people how to avoid financial exploitation from fraudulent schemes.
Detective Shannon Daley is a certified fraud examiner and her classes “will help vulnerable adults and their caregivers gain skilled insight into fraud strategies and schemes specifically targeting their population.”
“‘Many adults, as they advance in age, become just as vulnerable as children to the evils of the world,’ Detective Daley said. ‘As a community, we teach our children crime prevention, hold their hands and guide them through tough times with love and protect them from harm.'”

“‘As a community, we need to do the same with our elderly population.'”
Daley will provide her course on two occasions, according to the police department.
People can attend the first course from 10 am to 12 pm Tuesday, June 11 or the second from 6-8 pm Thursday, June 13.
The courses are free and open to the public and will take place at the Natrona County Public Safety Operations Center, located at 441 Landmark Drive in Casper.
Daley’s fraud examiner certification comes from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, according to the police department.
“She has a passion for investigating financial exploitation of seniors and vulnerable adults because they are so often forgotten victims,” the police department’s announcement states.
“We hope you will join us for this important presentation to protect yourself or someone you love.”
The police department first announced the courses on May 20.
