CASPER, Wyo. — With Casper City Councilman Chris Walsh resigning, the rest of the Council has discussed how to fill this vacancy.
They discussed this during their Tuesday, July 9 work session. The Council decided that they will fill this vacancy by soliciting for Casper citizens to apply to take the position.
Walsh was the Ward III Council representative so his replacement needs to be an individual from that area. Council decided to set July 19 as the deadline for Ward III citizens to apply to fill the vacancy.

Ward III citizens interested in the position will need to send letters and resumes expressing why they would like to take the position.
Council decided that they will then hold a special meeting on August 5. During that meeting, the Council will interview the candidates in a public meeting. They will ask the candidates a set of established questions.
The Council will work on what this set of questions will be and discuss this during their pre-meeting ahead of the July 16 Council meeting. All candidates will be asked the same set of questions.
Once the Council has finished interviewing the candidates, they will then go into an executive session and vote to select one of the candidates.
Councilman Ken Bates said he thought Ward III citizens should have some form of input into the decision.
Casper Mayor Charlie Powell said that in the past this has been done by accepting emails expressing support for different candidates.
Councilman Mike Huber said he agreed that hearing from Ward III citizens would be important, but cautioned the Council from communicating to these citizens that it would be a vote.
