According to Mills PD officials, on July 20, 2019; at approximately 1:14 am; officers from the Mills Police Department and deputies from the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 4400 block of Dodge Street, in Mills, for a request for a welfare check.

Mills PD says that several parties reported a young male, approximately 14 or 15 years old, had been assaulted at that location.

Officers say they received information that the incident was video recorded and had been shared on multiple social media platforms.

The alleged victim was a juvenile male and the suspect was an adult male.

Natrona County Sheriff’s Office Deputies arrived on the scene first and observed several individuals running from the residence.

An adult male, matching the suspect description, exited the residence as well. Deputies directed the man to stay inside the residence and he reportedly complied. The male was ultimately detained due to being a suspect in the reported assault.

Officers and deputies report that they searched the area and located dried blood in the street near the residence. Officers then spoke with the suspect, who is said to have denied knowledge of any altercation.

Officers with the Casper Police Department said that they made contact with the alleged juvenile victim, at his Casper residence, confirmed he had been assaulted.

Mills PD said in a written statement Monday, that “multiple witnesses to the assault, as well as video evidence, showed that the suspect had approached the victim unprovoked and confronted him.”

The suspect is accused of striking the juvenile in the face, knocking him to the ground, and continuing to assault the victim by kicking him in the face and abdomen.

Mills PD says that once the victim was not able to get up, the suspect is alleged to have stolen the juvenile’s shoes and belt. The suspect was then accused of continuing to assault the juvenile with the shoes and belt.

Police say that a pair of blood-stained shoes was discovered nearby.

The suspect in the assault was placed under arrest by Mills Police Department officers and was recommended for charges of Robbery, Child Abuse, and Minor in Possession of Alcohol by Consumption.

The Suspect was transported and booked into the Natrona County Detention Center, without further incident.
