Natrona County Fire District: Casper Mountain fire under control

CASPER, Wyo. — Officials from the Natrona County Fire District say that a small fire on Casper Mountain, reported Wednesday, is under control.

Officials released a statement via social media on August 8, 2019.

As of 10:30 am Thursday, the fire at the end of Archery Range Road is reportedly contained and controlled. The fire size still remains at 1/10 of an acre.

Natrona County Fire District Brush 7 was summoned at 3:21pm Wednesday afternoon, the fire started as a single tree lightning strike.

Bureau of Land Management had a Type 6 Engine respond to the fire on Wednesday as well, though crews had to walk in to reach the fire, according to a BLM spokesperson.

A BLM crew also helped check the fire line on Thursday morning, monitoring possible smoldering remains. They are referring to the fire as the “Red Creek Fire.”

Casper Mountain Fire District was also on scene on Wednesday.
