Council to approve $18.7 million in ‘carry-over’ project funding

CASPER, Wyo. — Various City of Casper projects received City Council approval in the last fiscal year.

Some of those projects did not get “contractually obligated” prior to the start of the new fiscal year 2019-2020.

Council had previously budgeted a total of $18.7 million for these projects. In order to allow these projects to move forward, council needs to approve the “carry-over” of this budgeting into the new fiscal year.

City Manager Carter Napier said that while this amount may look large, he reiterated that these are not new funding commitments except in the sense that council needs to approve their carry-over into the new year to allow the projects to move forward.

Council said they would be comfortable with allowing the funding to be carried over. They’ll need to pass a budget amendment to formally allow this.
