CASPER, Wyo. — Nominations are being accepted for the 2019 Governor’s Arts Awards.
According to the Wyoming Arts Council, the nominations must be submitted by Wednesday, Oct. 9.
“Any Wyoming citizen, organization, business, or community may be a Governor’s Arts Award (GAA) nominee,” the arts council says. “Accomplishments that are noted should reflect substantial contributions made in Wyoming that exemplify a long-term commitment to the arts.”
“Special consideration will be given to nominees whose arts service is statewide.”
Previous winners are not eligible for the awards but past unselected nominees may be nominated again.
Casper’s most recent recipients were in 2017, including Art 321/Casper Artists Guild and Dr. Patrick Patton.
“Established in 1982, the Governor’s Arts Awards recognize artists, arts organizations and patrons who have displayed excellence in the arts and outstanding service to the arts in Wyoming,” the Wyoming Arts Council says.
“These awards were first made possible by an endowment from the Union Pacific Foundation in honor of Mrs. John U. Loomis, a life-long patron of the arts. Over the years, individuals and organizations from more than 21 Wyoming communities and statewide organizations have been honored for their dedication to the arts in Wyoming.”
The awards will be presented on Feb. 21, 2020.
Complete nomination guidelines are available online.
Nominations should be emailed to: Brittany Perez, Public Outreach & Events Coordinator, brittany.perez@wyo.gov.
