Person found safe during weekend North Platte Search and Rescue effort

CASPER, Wyo. — Natrona County Officials are saying that a missing person was recovered safely Sunday night, after a Search and Rescue effort on the North Platte River between the River West subdivision and Bessemer Bend areas.

According to reports from the Natrona County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch received a call reporting a person who had been floating ht North Platte River that did not arrive at the Robertson Road river access on schedule.

The overdue person had last been seen at the Bessemer Road river access, and was believed to still be on the river at the time of the call to dispatch.

Sheriff’s deputies spoke with the reporting party who said that the missing person had been floating the river with an acquaintance. The pair is said to have arrived at the Bessemer Road river access between 6:30 pm and 7:00 pm, Sunday. At that time the acquaintance got out of the river and found a ride back to their vehicle. The other person continued floating the river, but had not arrived at Robertson Road by 8:30 pm that night.

Game and Fish personnel reportedly brought a boat to the Robertson Road river access and began a search for the missing man. At approximately 11:00 pm, wardens with game and fish located the man, and returned him safely to the Robertson Road river access.
