CASPER, Wyo. — President Donald Trump criticized an impeachment probe into him during a rally in Minnesota on Thursday, Oct. 10.

His campaign organizers also played Prince’s “Purple Rain,” something they’d committed to stop doing in 2018.

“President Trump played Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’ tonight at a campaign event in Minneapolis despite confirming a year ago that the campaign would not use Prince’s music,” Prince’s estate said on Twitter. “The Prince Estate will never give permission to President Trump to use Prince’s songs.”

The estate also shared a letter that the Trump campaign sent on Oct. 15 stating they would stop using any Prince music at campaign rallies or events.

“Without admitting liability, and to avoid any future dispute, we write to confirm that the Campaign will not use Prince’s music in connection with its activities going forward,” the letter reads.

Prince was born and raised in Minnesota.
