Casper PD to use $16,100 federal grant for ‘less lethal’ shotguns, more

CASPER, Wyo. — A $16,100 grant from the United States Department of Justice will go toward some equipment the Casper Police Department would like to purchase.

The Casper City Council authorized the acceptance of the “Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant” during their Tuesday, Nov. 5 meeting.

The police department plans to use the grant to purchase:

  • 18 “less lethal” shotguns
  • 95 tactical medical kits
  • 30 sets of evidence marking cones
  • 30 cartridges of black-on-white weather proof tape
