12 foam-filled loader tires to cost Casper $70,378, for use at landfill

CASPER, Wyo. — 12 new foam filled loader tires will be purchased for use by the City of Casper Solid Waste Division.

The tires will be purchased from Casper-based Big Horn Tire, Inc. for $70,378.

“The tires are replacement tires that are used by landfill staff on three separate loaders,” a memo in the city council’s work packet explains. “The loaders work in very harsh environments, mostly running through and over refuse, thus needing the foam filled tires to avoid puncture holes and tears.”

Big Horn will replace the tires on the three machines. They’ll do so one at a time to avoid downtime at the landfill.

The Casper City Council authorized the purchase during their Tuesday, Nov. 19 meeting.
