When Flake arrived, Mills Fire Department was already on scene. The business owner informed him that he’d last seen the shop intact at about 3 pm on Nov. 30.
“He had completed heating a wheel, cooking on a protective coating,” the NCSO incident report states. “He believed no possible sources of fire had been left on.”
Mills Fire Department identified a charred area on the east side of the shop as the origin point of the fire where the business owner said a bench had been located.
“It appeared the fire had burned itself out after destroying the entire interior of the shop,” the report adds.
The Mills Fire Department’s initial impression was that the cause of the fire was accidental and the business owner also suspected no foul play, according the the NCSO report.
Flake asked the Mills Fire Department to notify NCSO if they suspected any criminal activity as their fire inspector continued the investigation.
