The Casper Police Department is warning the community about a new phone scam.
The Casper PD says they have received multiple reports of individuals receiving phone calls, appearing to be from the non-emergency phone number for the Casper Police Department (307-235-8278). PD officials say that the calls were reported on Wednesday, December 11.
Police say the scammer claims he or she is a friend or family member currently in jail. The scammer goes on to ask the recipient of the call for money.
