CASPER, Wyo. — The City of Casper will provide $1.5 million in funding to the Platte River Trails Trust over the next four years.
That funding will go to support the expansion of trails around Casper. The PRTT is authorized to use the funding for the following trails system projects:
- Paradise Valley to Robertson Road
- Walmart to Fort Caspar Academy
- Phase I Robertson Road to Whispering Springs
- Upgrades to Yesness Pond trails
While the funding can be used for these projects, it is not expected that all will be able to be completed. The city’s engineer has to approve any projects before they get underway.
$50,000 per year is allocated for overhead support costs. An additional $500,000 over the four year period is geared toward maintenance and major repairs to existing trails.
The contract expires June 30, 2023.
The funding comes from the city’s One-Cent Optional Sales Tax No. 16 fund.
The city council approved the contract with the Platte River Trails Trust during their Tuesday, Dec. 17 meeting.
