Smoke detectors led to early warning in Casper fire

CASPER, Wyo. — Details have been released regarding a late night fire in Casper over the weekend.

According to Casper Fire-EMS officials, at approximately 11:00 pm, January 10, 2020 Casper Fire-EMS was dispatched for a structure fire on Jonquil Avenue, in Casper.

The first arriving engine reported that all the occupants were outside, and upon entry there was smoke inside the home. The fire was found inside the chimney chase. Crews were able to extinguish the fire, preventing further damage and extension to the home.

Casper Fire-EMS units responded, along with additional chief officers, and an investigator. The Casper Fire-EMS was also assisted by Casper Police Department and Wyoming Medical Center Ambulance service.

“Casper Fire Department would like to remind everyone that working smoke detectors help save lives and property,” Casper Fire-EMS said in a statement late Friday. “The smoke detectors led to an early detection and notification.”

A cause for the fire was not released by officials.
