CASPER, Wyo. — The City of Casper is saying that multiple residents may have received delinquency notices for their water bill, and that that these calls were made in error.
According to a City of Casper statement, the Customer Service Division uses an automated phone calling service to notify customers who are late with their payments. The system also sends out text messages and emails, as applicable. The message tells people that their account is delinquent, and that their water services will be shut off if a payment is not made.
“Late Tuesday morning, January 14, an accident with the automated system sent the message out to several thousand customers who were not, in fact, delinquent with their bill,” a City statement said Tuesday.

“Unsurprisingly, we have received many calls and messages from customers who are confused and concerned about all of this. Rest assured if you paid your bill in a timely manner you will not have any disruption of services. We apologize for the error,” said Assistant Financial Services Director, Peter Meyers.
The City of Casper Customer Service Division has sent a second automated call to all of the affected customers to let them know that the first call was made in error.
