CASPER, Wyo. – A former Casper resident and Kelly Walsh High School grad has died in the line of duty in Idaho.
According to a statement from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Wyatt Maser, 23, was attempting to restrain a woman wielding a machete early Monday morning when another deputy responding to the call accidentally struck Maser with a patrol vehicle.
Maser died from his injuries at a local hospital.

“Dep. Maser was known as a hard working member of our team and family, and our hearts are filled with sadness at his loss,” said the sheriff’s statement.
According to an obituary published on Tuesday, Wyatt Maser was born in Thermopolis and graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 2014. He served in the United States Air Force as a Senior Airman before graduating from the Idaho Post Academy in 2019.
According to his obituary, he lived in Idaho Falls with is wife Paige Michelle Maser and their young daughter, Morgan.
