CASPER, Wyo — The National Weather Service is reporting two areas of thunderstorm activity in Wyoming Friday evening, June 19.
Central and Northern Wyoming
- A strong thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of east central Campbell and western Weston Counties.
- “At [6:32 pm], Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 16 miles south of Camplex Event Facility, or 17 miles southeast of Gillette, moving southeast at 20 mph,” said NWS.
- Half inch hail will be possible with this storm.
Eastern and Southern Wyoming
- At 6:10 pm, NWS reported Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 10 miles south of Gustave to 3 miles northeast of Colony to 3 miles east of Hulett. Movement was east at 25 mph.
- Pea size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with these storms.
Locations impacted include:
- Cheyenne sees a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 8:00 pm
- Belle Fourche, Colony, Beulah, Alva, Aladdin, Antelope Butte, Bear Lodge Campground, Haystack Buttes, Cook Lake, Two Top Butte and northwestern Belle Fourche Reservoir.
- Interstate 90 in South Dakota between Mile Markers 1 and 2.
- Interstate 90 in Wyoming between Mile Markers 203 and 207
