CASPER, Wyo –Though unsuccessful in their elk hunt in the Bighorn mountains, bowhunters Daniel Toomey, Jake Meals and Hunter Lefever began their return journey to Butler, Pennsylvania with a better impression of Casper than they might have had initially.
The hunters had about $6,000 -worth of equipment stolen from their truck while staying at a Casper hotel Monday night, Sept 14. Investigating officers with the Casper Police Department, some of who are involved in the sportsman community, were able to rally and outfit the trio with loaner equipment so the hunt could go forward.
On Friday, Sept. 25, the trio returned to Casper to drop off some of the loaned gear and pizza to show their appreciation before their journey home, Casper police said on social media.
