CASPER, Wyo– Sustained winds of 45 mph with gusts up to 65 will continue to impact much of the state through Saturday and has already lead to several closures.
US 20/26 between Casper and Shoshoni is closed in both directions Friday night as of 6:30 pm, the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) said. A combination of winter conditions and blowing dust prompted the closures, WYDOT said. The estimated reopening time is unknown.

The alert also affects Wyo 256 between Mills and Evansville.
Gusts of over 60 mph have closed Interstate 25 between Casper and Buffalo to light, high-profile vehicles due to extreme blowever risk. I-25 southbound is also affected through Glenrock, Douglas, Glendo, and Wheatland.
In the southeast, I-80 and US 30/287 between Laramie and Walcott Jct. are closed to light, high-profile due to wind gusts measured at 71 mph at 3:00 pm Friday.
Winter condition closures in the west include:
- WY 28 between Atlantic City Rd and Mile Marker 63, Westbound Closure Gate
- WY 28 between Mile Marker 63, Westbound Closure Gate and US 287 / WY 789
- WY28 the Fremont/Sublette Cty Line – US 287 / WY 789
Blowing snow and black ice are also reported along US 189 between Big Piney and Wyo 372.
