CASPER, Wyo —  Mild temperatures and dry weather with periods of elevated winds are expected for much of the coming week in the central and western Wyoming region, according to theNational Weather Service (NWS) in Riverton.

A cold front dropping across Wyoming Saturday afternoon and evening  will bring some strong winds sacross the Wind Corridor (from Muddy Gap through Casper), though those are expected to decrease around sunset.

Saturday weather for central and western Wyo (NWS Riverton)

50 mph gusts are possible Saturday across the wind prone areas of southeast Wyoming, including portions of Interstate 25.

Cold air inversions could bring some patchy fog to the western valleys the next few days, NWS said.

Mild temperatures and light winds Sunday are expected. Clear skies on Sunday night should allow for a good view of the full moon, this one called a Beaver Moon, according to NWS.

Monday is expected to bring stronger winds from Rock Springs to Casper as the next Pacific system begins to impact the state Monday night.

NWS said the “models are in flux” when it comes to forecast precipitation with this system following Monday night. There is a “slight chance” for snow in the far west, with some models showing light snow more widespread across Johnson and Natrona counties. This includes a 20% chance for Casper before 11:00 am Tuesday.

Strong or high winds would also be possible near Buffalo and the I-90 corridor.

In general, dry conditions with periods of high winds and temperature drops after Tuesday are forecast for the coming week.
