CASPER, Wyo. – Fire crews responded to a grassland fire on West First Street late Thursday morning, according to a social media post from Casper Fire-EMS, during what they described as a “busy day so far.”
“As crews are completing mop up on a wildland fire near West First Street, multiple units have been dispatched for a structure fire on Glendale,” said the post published around 1:40 p.m. on Thursday.
“Mutual aid partners from Mills, Evansville and Bureau of Land Management have been instrumental in our efforts today,” it continued.

Hot, dry weather along with strong gusty winds have elevated fire danger across the state today, according to numerous agencies and the National Weather Service in Riverton.
The NWS says strong gusts up to 65 mph could continue through the night before a slight cool down on Friday. Temperatures will heat back up again over the weekend, with a high of 94 degrees predicted for Sunday, and 97 degrees on Monday in the Casper area.
