CASPER, Wyo. — 15 cars on a Union Pacific train derailed at around 2:15 am Monday near Hillsdale, Wyoming, UP Senior Communications Manager Mike Jaixen said in an email on Monday afternoon.
No injuries were reported and crews are working to clear the tracks, according to Jaixen. Those efforts are expected to continue into Monday evening “at which point repair work can begin.”
The cause of the derailment remains under investigation, according to Jaixen.
UP said on Monday morning that they were experiencing a service interruption between Cheyenne and North Platte, Nebraska.
“Customers with rail shipments moving through the impacted area may experience delays between 24 and 36 hours,” UP said in a message to customers. “If you have any questions, please contact Customer Care & Support at 800-272-8777 or your Union Pacific representative.”
