Comedienne, actress and outspoken Trump critic Kathy Griffin announced on Twitter today that she’s undergoing treatment for lung cancer.

“I have cancer,” she wrote. “I’m about to go into surgery to have half of my left lung removed.”

In the post she said she has never smoked but somehow developed lung cancer.

She said her doctors are “very optimistic” and she hopes to avoid chemo and radiation after surgery.

“I should be up and running around as usual in a month or less,” she said.

Griffin, 60, was well known for her standup routines and acting appearances, as well as her long running appearances on CNN during their New Years Eve broadcasts with Anderson Cooper.

Griffin lost her CNN gig in 2017, when video of her posing with a bloodied mask of then president Donald Trump was published.

“For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate,” Cooper wrote after the images appeared.

She later apologized for the photo but remained a critic.
