Casper mayor proclaims ‘Hunger Action Month’ as 15.3% of Natrona residents struggle with hunger

CASPER, Wyo. — Casper Mayor Steve Freel on Tuesday, September 7 proclaimed September as “Hunger Action Month” with the goal of raising awareness about food insecurity issues in the community.

In the proclamation, Freel stated that 15.3% of people in Natrona County struggle with hunger and “one in every four children do not know where their next meal will come from.”

Joshua’s Storehouse Executive Director Kody Allen attended the city council meeting and said that Joshua’s Storehouse, the Salvation Army and Wyoming Food Bank of the Rockies are asking that people consider volunteering at local food pantries.

“We would just like to invite everybody to come and volunteer at all the wonderful food pantries here in town to help us end hunger here in Natrona County,” Allen said.
