CASPER, Wyo. — Casper-based Mimi’s House, a homeless shelter serving youth in the community, announced on Friday that it had been awarded a $10,000 “Kentucky Fried Wishes” grant from the KFC Foundation.
Mimi’s House said the grant will be used to add state-of-the-art security systems to the homes it uses to serve youth struggling with homelessness.
KFC also provided dinner at Mimi’s House houses.
The KFC Foundation says that the Kentucky Fried Wishes grant was presented to Mimi’s House on September 9 “to celebrate Colonel Sanders’ birthday.”
“The Casper-Riverton organization was nominated by the KFC’s original franchisee, Harman, for the meaningful work that they do within their community and will use the funds to enhance security at its shelters which provide a safe place for at risk youth experiencing homelessness,” the KFC Foundation said.
Mimi’s House says its mission is “to assist and inspire homeless youth with the hope that they will build self-sufficient lives; to provide a warm, family-style environment for Casper youth ages sixteen to nineteen.”
