CASPER, Wyo. — A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Wednesday, September 15 near the west-side Walmart as the Platte River Trails Trust celebrates its newest trail connection.
The “Morad to Mountain Plaza Shopping Center Trail” will allow users to travel safely from the Morad Park trail across CY Avenue and into the Mountain Plaza Shopping Center, the organization said in a release Tuesday.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday just north of the stoplight at the intersection of CY Avenue and the Walmart business access road.

Platte River Trails hopes this newest connection will serve as Phase I of a connection into the Wolf Creek neighborhood, providing residents even more access to the area amenities by foot or bike.
Funding for the project came from a Wyoming Department of Transportation Transportation Alternatives Program grant, optional One-Cent funds, and private fundraising.
“We are grateful to several property owners who partnered with us to create this important addition to our community trail system, including the Murie Audubon Society, Chaz Farnham, Hilltop Bank, and Jake and Karri Spears,” the Platte River Trail Trust said.
The organization said it relied on local engineering and construction firms WLC Engineering and Knife River Construction for this and all of its projects.
