CASPER, Wyo. — Kids and adults alike are getting ready to participate in the 2021 “Smoke & Soul Fest” in Casper.

The event will feature BBQ competitions sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society. There will also be a “Kids Q” competition along with a Kids Alley with activities for families.

Live music by Steve Frame and Diane Lynn of Buffalo Scout will be at the Smoke & Soul Fest, along with a variety of vendors and a beer trailer.

The winner of this year’s American Royal World Series of Barbeque will be participating in the Casper competition along with teams from around the region.

Smoke and Soul Fest will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, October 2 at the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds. The event itself is free.

A People’s Choice Tasting Tent will open at 2 p.m. The cost to get in the tent and try out some BBQ is $15 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under.

“There are interactive family activities throughout the day and a children’s sports helmet giveaway including bike and skateboard helmets,” a press release from the Brain Injury Advocates of Wyoming states. “Our goal with this event is to raise awareness for brain injury prevention, host a unique annual community event and to raise money to benefit the Brain Injury Advocates of Wyoming.”

“BIAW’s mission is to support, inform and assist brain injury survivors and their caregivers and loved ones. We provide a number of services including case management and representative payee services, support groups, information and referral, and brain injury education. We work hard on brain injury prevention including helmet giveaways to children and the Durable Medical Equipment Loan Closet (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.).”

Funds raised at the Smoke & Soul Fest will go toward the BIAW’s prevention activities.
