Weekend Events Roundup: Cemetery Tours, Fall Fest, Monster Trucks, Forsling Art reception

CASPER, Wyo. — With clear and seasonable weather in store for the Oil City this weekend, indoor and outdoor events alike should be a breeze.

Whether you’re looking for monster truck mayhem, thrilling horse racing action from seven Nations’ champions, live music, or just getting into the fall spirit at David Street Station, you’ll find out when and where to go below:

Horse Nations Indian Relay Council’s Indian Relay Races

Leading riders and teams from seven different Nations across the west test their horsemanship, coordination, speed and sportsmanship. Riders do three laps around a half-mile track, switching horses each lap, all riding bareback. 12-16 horses can be on the track at any given time.

Fall Fest at David Street Station

“This will be a fun-filled day for the whole family, including a train ride, food, drinks, face painting, games, crafts, live music and more,” David Street Station said on Monday.

Monster Truckz Mayhem Tour 

  • Casper Speedway (1277 Amoco Road)
  • September 24 at 7:00 p.m.
  • September 25 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m

  • Tickets are $16.50 for the first 100 customers

Come two hours early for the Monster Truckz Mayhem Tour pit party, which is open to all ticket holders.

From Oil City News: “The event is more than just ‘seeing’ monster trucks. You can witness them racing, destroying cars, and flying over jumps. Additionally, there will be motorcycles jumping high above your head and performing impossible stunts. You can even see a human cannonball soar through the air.”

I’ Scream 4 Wings location opening

  • Saturday, September 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

The noted food truck brand is teaming up with Oil City Beer Company to launch its indoor location, I’ Scream 4 Wings & Other Things.

Outlaw country and western alt band The Last Coyote will perform at 7:00 p.m.

“Specials, commemorative beer glasses, special I’Scream work shirts and new flavors, [including] the introduction of our Hazy Chicken Pizza” will feature.

Reception for Neal Forsling at the Nicolaysen Art Museum

A “true Wyoming original,” Forsling’s paintings were included in exhibitions throughout the world during her lifetime. The exhibit at the Nic will be the first showcase of her work in over 50 years.

The Crimson Dawn Association is presenting “Neal Forsling: Through the Artist’s Eye” as a way for people to become familiar with Forsling’s contributions to the Casper area community as well as the landscape paintings, writing and stories she created.

Cemetary Tours with figures from Casper’s Past

Hosted by the Casper Theater Company, these tours will begin at the parking lot located at Fourth Street and Melrose Street across from the west gate of Highland Cemetery.

  • Friday and Saturday
  • 6:45 p.m.

Tours last about one hour and 30 minutes and are hosted by Rev. Jim Shumard, who will share some cemetery history and guide guests through the cemetery.
