CASPER, Wyo. — A rally and fundraiser for women’s “reproductive health care rights” will be held Saturday in Casper.

The “Buck Off My Body” rally, hosted by Pro-Choice Wyoming, and Casper Indivisible, will be held at David Street Station from 10 a.m. to noon.

In September, the Supreme Court voted 5-4 to deny an emergency appeal from abortion providers and others that sought to block enforcement of a new Texas law that prohibits abortions once medical professionals can detect cardiac activity — usually around six weeks, and before many women know they’re pregnant, the Associated Press reported.

“Buck Off My Body” organizers said the event is aimed at networking those with like-minded concerns in “standing with our sisters in Texas and Mississippi.”

There will be speeches, cash fundraising, a voter registration drive, and organiztion for future action, the event posting states.

Participants are encouraged to wear blue or white and make contributions in cash.

No food or drink will be available, and health protection protocols related to COVID-19 will be in place.

The speakers will be:

  • Dr. Tanis Lovercheck-Saunders
  • The Rev. Leslie Kee
  •  Ms Riata Little Walker (by proxy)
  • Ms Carol Johnson, JD, for Chelsea’s Fund
  • Christine Lichtenfels
  • Mary Ann Budenske
  • Holly Thompson
  • Emcee: Jane Ifland
