CASPER, Wyo. — An Idaho man is dead in and another individual was injured as the result of a two-vehicle highway crash near Cokeville shortly before 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 13.
According to a preliminary Wyoming Highway Patrol (WHP) report, a Jeep Grand Cherokee was southbound on US 30 / WY 89 when it crossed the centerline, striking a Chevrolet Silverado “in an offset head-on manner with override-underride.”
The vehicles separated and came to rest on the west side of the roadway.
73-year old driver Danny Beckstead was fatally injured in the crash, though it is not specified in the report which vehicle he was driving. A seat belt was not in use, the report said.
Speed, driver inattention and “driver fatigue/asleep” are noted as possible contributing factors. There was one other person injured and a non-injured party noted in the report.

There have been 91 fatalities on Wyoming highways in 2021, compared to 107 in 2020, 128 in 2019, and 93 in 2018.
