CASPER, Wyo. — Calle Sur, a duo of Latin American natives steeped in a range of traditional and contemporary styles, are bringing their mix of jazz, salsa, and bossa nova to Casper this week for an ARTCORE performance and free storytelling workshop at the Nicolaysen Art Museum.
The group is adept with a range of instruments, with Ed East playing drums and guitar. Karin Stein strums a 6/8 Latin jazz rhythm on her Venezuelan cuatro, then switches to Bolivian panpipes, the group’s website says.
In addition to Thursday’s performance at Restoration Church, the group is hosting a free storytelling workshop at the Nicolaysen Art Museum on Wednesday.
This will include opportunities for sing-along participation, with traditional music interspersed with Latin American fables, all while raising awareness of ecological issues.
