Wyoming men’s basketball’s flying start to the year came to a sputtering halt as the Cowboys suffered their first loss of the 2021-22 season in a 94-65 rout at fellow unbeaten No. 11 Arizona on Wednesday in Tucson, Arizona.

Arizona and Wyoming entered the day as two of just 12 undefeated teams in the country, though the Wildcats outclassed the Pokes from the start as they led 53-22 at halftime. Four different Arizona players finished in double figures as guard Benedict Mathurin posted a 24-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Guard Xavier DuSell led Wyoming with 22 points. Forward Graham Ike, the reigning Mountain West Conference Player of the Week, finished with 17 points and four rebounds.

The Pokes will look to rebound this weekend as they host Utah Valley at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Arena-Auditorium in Laramie.
