CASPER, Wyo. — Casper, do you have all your Christmas shopping done? Did you already buy all the gift for the kids, the spouse, the grandparents and the in-laws?
Maybe you forgot something, but don’t worry — we’ve got the solution! There’s not much time to waste; Christmas is only three days away. However, Santa has talked to all the local shops downtown and they still have Christmas gifts for your loved ones.
With all the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, the supply chain issues, and COVID-19 still hanging in the wind, what can we do to still make our Christmas merry? Casper thought ahead and planned for this. After talking to the shops downtown, there is no question that you can make this Christmas one of the best yet. Stores like Wind City Books and Toy Town all planned ahead for the Christmas season, and they have what you are looking for. Pop in to get your last-minute Christmas gifts!
If you don’t know what to buy, ask the locals because they have just the right stocking stuffers. Here are some suggestions from just a few of those fun places you can shop downtown.
Wind City Books
Miranda Berdahl, the owner of Wind City Books, has a lot of suggestions for those bookworms in your life. First and foremost, they have all sorts of books and can suggest anything from fiction to thriller. Not sure what you want? They’ve read a lot of books, so don’t hesitate to ask the staff for suggestions.
One of the books suggested by Miranda Berdahl is The Last House on Needless Street, by Catriona Ward. She says, “It is an exciting thriller.” She did not want to give the ending away, but says that there is a great twist. It is told from three perspectives that are seemingly unconnected.
The next book has a Cheyenne, Wyoming tie. Wyoming’s Friendly Skies by Starley Talbott and Michael E. Kassel is about stewardesses and the “birth of Airplane Hospitality.” How cool is it that it’s something from Wyoming? This could be a gift to send to those members of your distant family who still don’t believe Wyoming is real!
Wyo Shirt and Gift
Speaking of things from Wyoming for Wyoming, why not stop in to visit Wyo Shirt and Gift? It is the perfect store to get all your Wyoming apparel. But wait, there’s more — don’t forget the Chugwater Chili, or spices, or the handmade Wyoming soaps!
All of it is made right here in Wyoming. Let me tell you, it is some of the best stuff Wyoming has to offer…besides the people, of course. But don’t just take my word for it: listen to Jon Tirmmer, who says that these will make great last-minute gift ideas.
Have you heard of Gooseberry Creek and their famous gift baskets? According to the owner Lissa Land, they can make a last-minute Christmas gift basket that someone is sure to remember (and not think was last-minute)! Answer just a few short questions and they will build a gift basket for any budget — anything from $10 to $10,000.
According to Land, the shop has over 17 local artists that are distributed throughout the store, so you are buying almost nothing commercialized.
Rockstar Music Store
We all have an inner rock star…or at least we know someone who loves music. There aren’t many local places in town to get you high-end musical instruments, but there is a place downtown that is ready and open for the last-minute music lover. Not sure what to get the rock star in your life? No worries: Brayden Peak at Rockstar Music has you covered. He can make some great suggestions that will be sure to let the music flow.
Most importantly, we can’t forget the kids. You might be in a panic — Walmart and Target are selling out of toys. But never fear, Toy Town is here! Toy Town co-owner Dalene Lockhart says that they anticipated the shortages and have plenty of stock.
If you are looking for some unique gifts for your kids, Lockhart suggests Crazy Aarons, Funko Pops, or Legos. They also have a huge stock on science gifts and buildable activities. They can help put anything that the kids asked for from Santa underneath the Christmas tree. Stop in to see their collection of Baby Yoda, stuffed animals, and fun gadgets before Christmas day.
These are just a few places to shop for those last-minute Christmas gifts, but there are so many more great options. Shop local and have a Merry Christmas, Casper!
