CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Ashley Miller will take over the reins as the Chief Financial Officer of the Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) effective February 7, according to a press release issued last week from the department.

“Ms. Miller is returning having previously held positions within the Department of Corrections to include Accountant, Business Manager and Departmental Fiscal Manager from 2009 to 2018. Ms. Miller has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management (University of Phoenix) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (Chadron State University). Ms. Miller is a Wyoming native,” the release stated.

Ashley Miller is currently the Administration Division Manager of the Board of Public Utilities for the City of Cheyenne, according to their website. Miller has served in that role since July 2019.

Miller Previously worked for WDOC as their Business Manager from June 2011 until February 2018 before taking over as the Fiscal Manager from February 2018 until leaving WDOC from that position in July 2019.

“We are pleased to have this opportunity to bring Ms. Miller back into the Department in this position of critical importance to our operations. We are confident she will oversee our more than $260 million fiscal operations with the level of proficiency and detail it demands,” WDOC Director Daniel Shannon said of Miller’s new appointment.

According to Paul Martin, public information officer for the WDOC, the $260 million fiscal operation is a biannual budget for the WDOC.

“Having held positions of leadership in the fiscal area, it’s just a logical step for her to move up into this role,” Martin said of Miller.
