CASPER, Wyo. — No Valentine’s Day Skate?
David Street Station said at the opening of its final weekend of the 2022 season that post-holiday attendance is simply not enough to sustain its operations.
“As seen in previous seasons, our ice skating attendance drops significantly after the first of the year and once school goes back in session,” the Station explained on social media Friday.
The costs to operate the ice rink — including utility bills, ice rink chiller rental, and staffing — “far exceed” the revenue brought in at this point in the season.
“Therefore, it is the most economical decision to close our ice rink and begin preparing for our next season of free events for our community.”
The rink will be open all weekend and on Monday, January 17 from 12:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Admission and skate rentals are free.
“We are always hard at work behind the scenes, and are excited to continue bringing new and improved activities and events to David Street Station year after year,” the Station said. “Thank you to our community for a wonderful winter season!”
