CASPER, Wyo. — After two years online, the Wyoming Outdoor Expo has returned to the Ford Wyoming Center.

Hundreds of students from area schools moved through the exhibitions on Thursday, getting the chance to safely learn the basics of firearms and fly fishing, and even getting to pilot canoes in a makeshift pond.

The event, organized by the Wyoming Game & Fish Department, allows children and adults to learn outdoor skills with hands-on instruction by experts. Fly fishing, hunting and camping skills are explored, as well as lessons on wild animals and habitats. Dog training, outdoor photography and bow hunting skills are also covered this year.

“Whether you’re interested in fishing and hunting techniques or wildlife watching strategies, people new to the outdoors can talk to experts to learn how to get started in almost any outdoor hobby at Expo,” said Kathryn Boswell, Wyoming Game & Fish hunter and angler participation coordinator in a release last month.

The free event runs through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
