CASPER, Wyo. — This year’s young Lemonade Day participants are a week away from making lemonade sales, but they will gather today to see who has the best stand.
There are prizes up for grabs today at the Best Stand Contest at Sutherlands, 4015 CY Ave. Contestants can set up their stands at 10 a.m. Judging begins at 11:30 and will wrap up by noon, according to the event website.
While there will be no lemonade sales at the event today, there will be live entertainment as well as photo opportunities with Lemmy.
Presented by Hilltop Bank, the eighth annual citywide Lemonade Day will take place Saturday, June 25. It’s a free community event that’s focused on teaching kids how to start and run their own businesses. A kick-off event took place May 4 and nearly 350 children attended.
To participate and succeed, kids must follow a 14-step process that includes budgeting, marketing, construction, research, development of a recipe and tabulation of business results. Kids and parents are not supposed to navigate the system all on their own. At the kickoff, they received a Lemonade Day backpack, which contained everything they needed to get started, including an entrepreneur guide, coupons for supplies, and more.
