CASPER, Wyo. — U.S. Rep. Liz Cheney is set to deliver her “Time for Choosing” speech at 7 p.m. from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, California.
The speech, available here via livestream, is part of a “Time for Choosing” series for leading voices in the conservative movement addressing critical questions facing the future of the Republican Party, a news release states. The series was launched in 2021.
“In delivering a ‘Time For Choosing’ address, Congresswoman Liz Cheney joins a distinguished group of leading intellectuals, U.S. representatives, U.S. senators, governors and emerging 2024 presidential candidates who are seeking to answer fundamental questions and advance ideas to animate the future of the party. Previous speakers in the series include former House Speaker Paul Ryan, former Vice President Mike Pence, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, and U.S. Senators Tim Scott and Ben Sasse,” the release states.
Speeches in the series address specific questions such as “Why are you a Republican?” “What should the Republican Party stand for?” and “What are the Republican philosophies we can all agree on?”
The series derives its name from the 1964 address Ronald Reagan delivered to support Sen. Barry Goldwater’s presidential campaign. A political newcomer at the time, Reagan presented the country with a choice between “man’s old-aged dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order” and “the ant heap of totalitarianism,” the release states.
