CASPER, Wyo. — Natrona County’s 4-H participants will put their best foot (and hoof) forward at the annual horse show Saturday, July 30, at the Central Wyoming Fairgrounds Rodeo Arena.

Classes will begin at 8 a.m., starting with the halter class, in which participants will be judged on their horses’ builds and physical qualities.

After the halter class, the showmanship class will begin. “It’s an opportunity to basically show off their horse, put on a show for the judge,” said parent volunteer Ashtan Christensen. Kids and their horses will be dressed up, displaying their skills for chances at awards and entrance to the state fair. Then, riding classes will begin.

“We do all of the Western riding classes,” said Christensen. “So we have trail, Western riding, western pleasure, all those types of classes. Then you also have the speed events like poles, barrels, all of that.”

The event will last until the late afternoon.
