CASPER, Wyo. — The Cottonwood Beach campgrounds at Alcova will be accessible via Kortes Road off Highway 220 starting at 7 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, according to the Natrona County Road and Bridge Department.

Kortes Road south of Cottonwood to Miracle Mile, Pedro Mountains, and Pathfinder will be closed as the phased construction project continues into the fall. Those areas are still accessible by a detour through Pathfinder Road as illustrated below.

Speed limit restrictions will be in effect due to the road condition, the county release said Wednesday.

As noted in the map, segments 2 and 3 of the project are complete. When segment 4 is complete, work will begin on segment 1, affecting Kortes Road immediately off Highway 220 to the Gray Reef Dam.

All segments of the work will require closures and detours, the county says, and will be advertised in advance. Construction updates can be found on the county’s website here.

The $9.2 million project will involve full pavement reclamation and shoulder widening, as well as signage.
