CASPER, Wyo. — Casper’s over-25-year-old music festival kicked off Saturday, featuring food trucks, merchandise vendors, family-friendly activities, and, of course, tons of live music.
Asia featuring John Payne headlined Saturday at 5:45 p.m. after four other musical acts — Wendy Woo, The Queen Bees, Hold the Line and Pamilco Sound — entertained the crowd earlier in the day. Many local vendors (including the festival’s presenting sponsor, Platte Hemp Co.) had tents at the event for interested festival-goers.
There was truly something for everyone in the meadow. Kid-friendly attractions included mini bungee jumping from Jump Craze and a science center provided by The Science Zone. Older patrons could partake in other activities, like axe throwing in Oil City Axe Company’s cage.
Many furry friends accompanied their owners to the festival, and even they were met with ample entertainment; for example, Unleashed Dog Bakery offered its selection of dog-friendly bakery treats.
Festival-goers had many options for food and refreshments, from Popculture kettle corn to feasts from Grease Monkey BBQ. Beverage vendors, like Gruner Brothers Brewing, also provided a variety of drink options. This year, attendees are not allowed to bring alcohol from outside the festival.
Enjoying the amenities, scenery and beautiful mountain weather, attendees lounged in camper chairs and tents while the live music played. The festivities continue through Sunday, with the following lineup:
- Sunday, Aug. 7:
- 10 a.m. – Lander Fire Department Pipe Band
- 11 a.m. – Eric Golden
- 12:45 p.m. – The Sugar Britches
- 2:30 p.m. – Triple Nickel
- 4:15 p.m. – Jo Dee Messina
