CASPER, Wyo. — The Casper Firefighters are hosting a garage sale today, with proceeds going to support the department’s Benevolent Fund, which provides financial support to firefighters facing hardships related to medical crises.

The garage sale kicked off at 7 a.m. and will run until 5 p.m. at Station 3, located at the corner of East 12th and South Beverly Streets.

“In the last ten years, our department alone has lost multiple firefighters to medical conditions associated with the fire service,” Casper Firefighters said in a press release last week. “In 2014, Captain Atkinson passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. Three years after that, Captain Trott suffered the same fate. Most recently, in June of 2019, Captain Low had a traumatic accident and later passed away from his injuries.

“The support from our community in the wake of these events has always been incredible and we are extremely grateful to work and live in a city that values the service and sacrifices of others so highly. While these specific events are etched into our memories, many other firefighters battle conditions on a regular basis that place incredible hardship on them and their families.”
